Our Story

During his internship in 2011, Jason (Owner of Fit Statesboro), realized the life of a collegiate strength and conditioning coach sounded much better than the reality and decided that being his own boss sounded like a much better idea.  Having experience in both personal training and working with athletes he decided to open Fit Statesboro, a very small personal training studio.  Slowly growing, in 2014 Fit moved to its current location and expanded its roster of trainers.

Following a major renovation, at the start of 2018, Fit Statesboro expanded its offerings to include 24/7 memberships, additional classes, and other services.  We continue to strive to provide the private style personal training we began with, while also offering a unique strength and conditioning focused 24/7 gym experience, unlike any other.  The goal of Fit Statesboro is to supply a fitness playground, where you have the space and toys you want to have your best experience.

Meet the Team


Jason Wolfe

Owner and Operator

Jason is a certified Strength and Conditioning Coach, graduating from Georgia Southern in 2011 with a Master's in Exercise Science.  Jason interned at Southern's Strength and Conditioning facility during his two years in the graduate program and opened Fit Statesboro upon graduating.  Jason has experience in training himself and others in Olympic Lifting, Powerlifting, Crosstraining and Athletic Development.


Rick Spurgeon


Rick is a certified Strength and Conditioning Coach, graduating from Georgia Southern with his Bachelors in Exercise Science in 2014.  Rick has worked in a variety of fitness settings including a gymnastics gym, Crossfit Box and a corporate fitness facility, providing a range experience working with athletes to those with special needs.  He has worked at Fit Statesboro since 2016.


Laura Brannen


Laura received her BS in Chemistry from Georgia Southern in 2010, after also competing for the Eagles Cross Country team from 2006-10.  After College Laura pursued her love for fitness by becoming a certified Crossfit Coach and even qualifying for Regionals in 2014 and 2015.  Also holding a Weightlifting Certification, Laura has many years of experience working with people of all skill types and ages, in both group and individual settings.

Krystopher Thompson


Krys holds his Master's Degree in Exercise Science from Georgia Southern University and Strength and Conditioning Certification from the NSCA.  He has been personal training since 2014 in one-on-one and group settings.  Additionally, he assisted with the GSU Football Strength and Conditioning during his time at Southern.  He is knowledgeable in a variety of training practices including Powerlifting, Olympic Lifting, Basic Gymnastics, Mobility, and Movement.


Abbie Blackmon


Abbie is certified through the Athletics and Fitness Association of America.  A gymnast from an early age and playing a range of sports before serving as the Captain of the Georgia Southern Cheerleading squad during her time at GSU.  She holds her Bachelor's in Public Relations from Southern.  Since graduating in 2003 she has taught group fitness classes, cheer coaching, and personal training.  Abbie is the mother of two not only believes in the body transforming qualities of exercise but also the stress relieving.


Jon Pallitto


Jon is a certified personal trainer through the American Council on Exercise.  Playing a variety of sports growing up, including soccer, gymnastics, and basketball, exercise now serves as one of Jon's favorite outlets.  He enjoys helping others see the positive change it can make in their lives, as it has his own.  Sharing the knowledge and helping his clients stay motivated to reach their personal goals, in turn, keeps Jon motivated to continue learning and developing plans that beneficial for each client.


Keagan Kiely


Keagan graduated from Georgia Southern in 2016 with his Master's Degree in Exercise Science and holds certifications as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist and Sports Nutritionist.  He currently works at Georgia Southern as the Fitness Program Director and trains part-time at Fit Statesboro.  Keagan has a background in competing in bodybuilding and Crossfit.

Brian Olex


Brian earned his personal training certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) in the summer of 2017.  He is presently a Sergeant serving in the United States Marine Corps Reserve and deployed in the fall of 2015 to Parawan Province, Afghanistan. Brian graduated from GSU with his BS in Exercise Science.  Additionally, he worked as a physical therapist aide for two years where he learned various rehabilitation exercises and protocols.
